    ABSTRACT

    Forskolin has the unique property of activating all hormone sensitive adenylate cyclase enzymes in a biological system. Coleus forskohlii is the only source for forskolin among the plant kingdom. This article reviews about the need of systematic studies on cell cultures of C. forskohlii for the production and to enhance the production of forskolin by employing various strategies.
