    ABSTRACT

Galangoisoflavonoside was isolated from the rhizomes of Alpinia galanga. Methanolic extract of Alpinia galanga was subjected to column chromatography and eluted with ethyl acetate-methanol (9:1) to yield compound (AG 12) Galangoisoflavonoside. The structure of newer compound was elucidated by various spectral techniques (UV, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, and MS). Chemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the rhizomes of Alpinia galanga furnished a new flavonoid (AG 12) Galangoisoflavonoside. Isolation of compound (AG 12) Galangoisoflavonoside in Alpinia galanga rhizomes is being reported for the first time.
