ABSTRACT
Background: The genus <em>Crotalaria</em> (Fabaceae) is known for its diverse pharmacological activities. Objective: The present study was aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of <em>Crotalaria pallida</em> Aiton. Materials and Methods: The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using carrageenan-induced rat paw edema model. The antioxidant activity was assessed by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay, and total phenolic content (TPC). Results: The methanolic extract of <em>C. pallida</em> showed significant anti-inflammatory activity in a dose-dependent manner. The extract also exhibited potent antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 45.23 μg/mL in DPPH assay. The TPC was found to be 124.5 mg gallic acid equivalent/g of extract. Conclusion: The results suggest that <em>C. pallida</em> possesses significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which could be attributed to the presence of phenolic compounds.
